Two organizations offer exams that most colleges accept
for first-year accounting courses:
CollegeBoard Financial Accounting CLEP Exam:
This exam covers the material generally taught in
the first semester of an undergraduate accounting program. Test
takers have 90 minutes to answer 75 questions.
The test contains questions relating to general
accounting topics such as forms of business, the accounting cycle, and
double-entry accounting; the income statement, the balance sheet; the
statement of cash flows; and miscellaneous topics such as investments
and contingent liabilities.

CLEP Financial Accounting w/ Online Practice Exams
The book includes two full-length
practice tests that mirror the actual exam, allowing you
to become familiar with the test format before taking
the CLEP. Each practice test comes with detailed
explanations of answers to help you identify areas in
need of improvement and be prepared on test day.

GetCollegeCredit Principles of Financial Accounting DSST Exam:
This exam covers basically the same material as
the CLEP Financial Accounting Exam. Test
takers have 120 minutes to answer about 100 questions.
The cost to take CLEPs and DSSTs is about $75 or $80 plus
a sitting fee of about $10 to the facility administering the exam. Visit
